Engineering Intern (Full-time)

CTS Engineering, Inc. is a data and technology-driven planning and engineering firm that provides high-quality and innovative services to FDOT and other various agencies across the State of Florida. We are looking for a motivated entry-level Engineering Intern to join our growing multi-disciplinary team in Tallahassee to provide services to our clients in the Panhandle area. This position provides support in various transportation planning and engineering related tasks under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, Project Manager, or other professionals. 

Specific capabilities, skills and credentials include:

  • BS or higher in Civil Engineering, or Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning or related field.
  • Knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts and practices of Transportation Engineering and Planning.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data from different sources, including field data and online data sources.
  • Ability to interpret policies, regulations, criteria, and standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with co-workers.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of HCS and modeling software such as PTV VISUM/VISSIM is a plus.
  • EI License a plus.

Transportation Planner/Analyst

CTS Engineering, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated entry- to mid-level Transportation Analyst to join our multi-disciplinary team of professionals at our Doral Office (8095 NW 12 Street, Suite 315, Doral, FL 33126) to provide Transportation Engineering and Planning services to our clients in South Florida.  This position will be responsible for compiling and analyzing transportation related data in a GIS environment, performing travel demand forecasting for multimodal transportation projects using standard modeling software such as Cube/Voyager or PTV VISUM/VISSIM, and developing online based interactive data visualization and reporting tools.  This position also requires the ability to effectively present and communicate technical data and prepare written reports.

Specific capabilities and credentials required for this position include the following:

  • Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning or a related field; OR a Bachelor’s degree or in the same fields with three (3) years post-bachelor’s,

progressive related work experience.  Coursework in computer science or computer programming will be a plus;

  • Strong knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts and practices of Transportation Engineering and Planning;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data from different sources, including field data and online data sources;
  • Knowledge of database design and implementation using ArcSDE design structure and management or other similar database tools;
  • Working knowledge and skills in ArcGIS and to prepare various types of maps and/or graphics;
  • Experience in data analysis of large travel dataset such as US Census Data or travel survey data using statistical analysis software packages including R, SAS, or SPSS;
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with co-workers and clients; and
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills

Lead Engineer – Traffic Design – Central Florida

CTS Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Engineer / Project Manager to lead a variety of signalization, lighting, ITS projects at our office located in the Central Florida area.  Candidate will take a leadership / director role with the company.  To be successful in this role, candidate must have strong technical and managerial skills, willingness to train and mentor junior staff, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform lead engineering tasks and management related to signalization, lighting, and ITS projects
  • Perform reviews and implement quality control for projects and assignments
  • Serve as Project Manager and Engineer of Record for state (FDOT) and local municipal projects
  • Coordination with clients
  • Create and manage project schedules and staffing
  • Mentoring and guidance for engineering staff 
  • Lead and assist company in project / contract pursuits

Skills and Requirements

  • Ability to perform and review complex signalization, lighting, ITS, and electrical tasks
  • Ability to produce / manage engineering projects in CADD
  • Ability to produce / manage engineering plans sets for FDOT and/or counties within Florida
  • Experience with AGi32 and/or other lighting analysis software
  • Strong Microsoft Offices skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Effective follow up and follow through skills
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering related to signalization, lighting, and ITS
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
