Transportation Demand Management
Our innovative approach keeps our communities at the forefront of our solutions.
Effective Traffic Demand Management (TDM) implementation requires an optimal combination of marketing and transportation planning.
TDM strategies should present solutions to fight congestion by increasing the desire of the traveling public to use modes of transportation other than driving alone, particularly during peak commute times. Other options of TDM strategies include directing commuters to ridesharing, mass transit, walking and biking. If a substantial amount (approximately 20%) of the traveling public are afforded the opportunity to work from home or have work schedules that allow commuting slightly before or after the peak periods, that too would lead to noticeable congestion relief.
Why is Traffic Demand Management important for our communities?
TDM strategies can contribute to improved quality of life for individuals and communities. By reducing congestion and travel times, TDM helps reduce stress and frustration associated with traffic congestion. Accessible and sustainable transportation options also enhance mobility, connecting people to jobs, education, healthcare, and recreational opportunities.
CTS proposes TDM initiatives that strive to enhance accessibility to transportation options for all individuals, regardless of their socioeconomic status, age, or physical abilities. By promoting multimodal transportation networks and focusing on the needs of underserved communities, CTS understands that TDM can improve mobility and ensures equitable access to transportation resources.
