Client
Florida Department of Transportation, District Six
CTS was the lead for all design, inter-office and FDOT coordination, municipality coordination, County reviews and approvals, high priority scheduling, and push button construction support.

The Safety Push Button Design effort included over 50 Task Work Orders for various improvements throughout the County at over 150 locations. Improvements included intersection operational improvements, signalized pedestrian upgrades, enhanced signing, pavement markings, new midblock signalized crossings, wrong way signage and markings for interstate exit ramps, speed feedback signs, new sidewalk, new mast arms, and other various safety improvements.
The unique project required quick design turnarounds (typically six months or less) for immediate construction by push button contractors. Many of the Task Work Orders were the results of safety studies and fatal crash analysis and required concept evaluation and feasibility analysis, including right-of-way requirements, utility avoidance, and adherence to standards. Additionally, many tasks required the use of existing aerials and available data as the schedule did not allow time for a new survey.
