Client
Florida Department of Transportation, District 4
Palm Beach County
The main goal of this project was to provide engineering survey services for a new lighting system to the FDOT transportation facility (900+ Light Poles along 18 Miles).

SURVEYING
CTS recovered and established horizontal and vertical control for 38 primary control monuments. 145 Aerial Targets were also provided. CTS verified the existing Historical Baseline of Survey, and the existing R/W lines. Project limits were within right-of-way lines. Cross sections every 500 feet from edge of pavement to R/W line were measured and incorporated into the survey database (386 cross sections), including 50 culvert sites (pipe crossings). The survey is based on the Florida State Plane Coordinate System, East Zone, NAD 1983 (1990) and elevations were referenced to NAVD’88.
SUBSURFACE UTILITY ENGINEERING & GPR
CTS provided Quality Level B designates at each proposed light pole location. Approximately 950 proposed were scanned using GPR and electromagnetic techniques to find water, electric, fiber optic, telephone, and gas utility lines.
Underground Utility Locating Quality Level A was provided for 81 targets (test holes) to allow visual confirmation and to provide the utility’s horizontal and vertical mapping location. CTS performed a non-destructive vacuum excavation to expose, measure and map the utilities safely. GIS data collection was performed, combined with GPS RTK to generate Test Hole Reports and shape files.
